Penfield: A Brief History

Arguably one of the most popular brands amongst the likes of students, artists, musicians and just about anybody who goes outside at this current moment in time. Although now days Penfield is stocked in prestigious retails stores *cough* like ours *cough* it wasn't always this way. You just have to look at their slogan 'For life in the open' and the sturdiness and practicality of their garments and you can see where the roots of this great American make lie. Established in 1975, Penfield was designed to withstand the unforgiving New England climate (not too dissimilar to the old England climate then eh!) and shelter its wearer from the storm anywhere the wind blows or rain falls. It soon developed a reputation for making the highest quality down-filled jackets, fleece and outwear. By the 1980s it was the must have brand for many Americans mixing both fashion and function. Eventually they extended its operations, so today you'll find it from North America and Europe to Asia and Australia. Penfield has stayed true to its roots of the outdoors yet years of experience has allowed the brand to branch out into a broad range of retail channels. They have a long history of collaborations and private label development and that tradition continues to this day with the brands ongoing collaborations not just with high-end progressive menswear labels but also with top tier boutiques like Colette (France) and Edifice (Japan). Mixing classic designs with contemporary fashion there is a perfect Penfield for every need. Penfield strive for excellence in all their garments, which are built with fashion, function, and durability in mind. Able to provide warmth and comfort in a variety of different weather conditions. It is no wonder that this make has remained a popular choice amongst people across the world and especially here in the UK.
